WHAT’S A CHRONOMETER CERTIFICATE?
A CX SWISS MILITARY WATCH™ movement that has undergone the OFFICIAL accuracy testing as performed at the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Center (C.O.S.C.) is officially labelled a CHRONOMETER.
Only mechanical movements and thermo-compensated quartz movements can bear this label. If the movements pass the 15-day testing period they receive a certificate of accuracy, also referred to as an official CHRONOMETER CERTIFICATE. The attestation also contains the test number, which is the C.O.S.C.’s chronometer certificate number – the same number that is engraved on the movement.
The accuracy of a chronometer certified movement has been measured at different positions. Upon assembly of the watch the movement will then be painstakingly regulated at the expected position on its future wearer – that is, the wrist.
It is therefore paramount that in order to reach this level of accuracy the watch is either regularly worn or, in case of an automatic movement, stowed away on an appropriate watch winder.
The CHRONOMETER CERTIFICATE can only be obtained by the finest of movements which are used in bespoke timepieces of the highest quality – like the CX SWISS MILITARY WATCH™ timepieces.
