Improved safety regulations for army rifles / pistols
The Swiss government amended the regulations for army rifles / pistols. While the official policy is still for the soldiers to take their personal weapon back home after completing their annual service of two to three weeks soldiers who wish to do so are now allowed to store their weapon at an army depot. An obligation to inform the respective superiors of any potential danger caused by a member of the armed service was also introduced. Soldiers who finish their active service may still keep their personal weapon but as of 2010 they need to apply for a gun license first
